Started photography in 1967 while in the U.S. Army Special Forces. His first cover was in 1971 for Straightaway magazine of race car driver Johnny Johnson. This led to E.L. Woody holding several positions at Easyriders Magazine like staff photographer, associate editor, columnist, writer. Other photography positions held by the King of Paparazzi are roaming editor for Qui Magazine, cover photographer for Malibu Magazine and photographer for Se Og Hoer, the Danish TV Guide. He has been shooting the stars for 25 years and was executive producer of Celebrities Uncensored.
Talk to E.L. Woody
He was born in South Africa and moved to Los Angeles in 1979 at the age of 15. Having always been a fan of pop culture and the people involved Henry started celebrity functions in the late 80’s. During this time he started collecting autographs, and taking photos of and with the stars. Henry recalls, ” My friends and family got a kick out of seeing the photos of me posing with celebrities.” Then in 1994 he met E.L. Woody and “The King of the Paparazzi” asked if he would like start a career in filming celebrities. The videographer says, “I figured…why not? Why not make money doing something that I enjoy? So, I turned my hobby into a job!” He figures “this is Hollywood and in a small way, even I am a part of it. Not bad!”

A main reason why he enjoys being a paparazzo is “it’s different every day. Some days you don’t see anything and it’s boring, but other times you can see a ton of celebs and it’s quite a rush.” About 10 years ago he meet the “King of Paparazzi” while celeb watching, then one day E.L. Woody presented him with a camera and Steve’s been taking the hottest celebrity photos ever since. His favorite star is Jerry Seinfeld because “he’s always fun, he knows me and is one of the coolest celebs.” This is why 99% of our Seinfeld footage is Steve’s. But he says his best video is the exceptional and exclusive footage he took of Jim Carrey and Lauren Holly driving down the highway to a remote Malibu cliff and getting married. He ends with “it’s cool when a celeb knows you or is nice to you. I guess when they attack you or act like a jackass it’s just a hazard of the job. It keeps it interesting.”
I’m the girl behind the computer. Everybody on this project is truly fantastic to work with. It’s interesting seeing this side of the celebrities because you get to see behind the make-up artist, behind the publicist, and behind the script.
