Tom Cruise
There is excellent footage of Katie and Tom Cruise as they exit the theater. This was Katie’s first night in front of a crowd. Tom signed lots of autographs as Katie caresses his back. I get a laugh when I ask Tom to recreate the Tropic Thunder dance he performed in the film. The next morning over at the apartment I get a short clip of Katie carrying Suri to the SUV. Next, David Blaine is attempting to hang upside down, suspended above the Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park. He is hoping to do this for 60 hours straight and then end it with what he calls the Dive Of Death. What makes this an excellent clip is Kelly Ripa is hanging upside down beside Blaine doing an interview for Regis and Kelly Live!! Later I went over to the Gossip Girl set and ran into the same problem as always. An uncooperative actress. Now Blake Lively is being blocked by security as she walks back and forth to the set. I started off at Bryant Park as the Summer Concert Series is coming to an end. Donny and Marie Osmond were spreading some early morning cheer. Marie arrived early and sang a solo of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Donny who overslept finally arrived and the duo got going. All you Donny and Marie fans will be real happy with this video. A little while later Tom and beautiful baby Suri went to meet mommy. Suri was dressed in a pretty little red dress and loves to look in the cameras. I was able to get some great footage of the gorgeous Hollywood family. Tom was beaming as he walked along the street holding Suri in one hand, and her stuffed animal in the other. The crowd of paps and onlookers was huge and will probably grow even larger as word spreads. I was happy to offer Tom congratulations on his terrific performance in Tropic Thunder. Recently on a two-part Oprah appearance Tom mentioned how quickly his daughter was growing up saying he was “just amazed by Suri.” Cruise has been a loving and devoted father to his two adopted children, Isabella and Connor, he shares with Nicole Kidman as well. Remember, how cute Suri was and how everyone was comparing her to baby Shilo? Now with one celestial power couple nearing the delivery date for their 2nd (and possibly 3rd if the twin rumors are true) biological offspring, it’s only natural that heads are turning in TomKat’s direction with expectation. However The National Ledger reminds us of two other baby rumors connected to the pair in the last year that didn’t pan out. Pretty good reason to wait till you see that all-important bump before anyone starts planning the baby shower.
Hello After a couple days off, to heal, I went out Sunday to the Duplicity movie set. Julia Roberts and Clive Owens were once again there but these two seem to be oblivious to the others existence. It was at times difficult to find a place to shoot from but since it is Julia, I stayed and got the best possible footage. Monday morning I was walking past Regis and Kelly when I spotted John Goodman. He is one of the stars of Speed Racer, which is opening this week. John didn’t seem optimistic about the movies box office chance against Ironman. Still, John is a good sport, go catch his flick. Monday is the day of the Costume Ball at the Met and most of the big stars were to be found at the Carlyle Hotel. Katie Holmes and baby Suri were out for a ride and I got Mom and daughter returning to the hotel. Later I got some crazy footage of TomKat as they left for the Ball. People get very excited when these two appear as you will see. Are you desperate for a new Tom Cruise flick? Well you’ll have to wait a little while longer. Except for his small role in Ben Stiller’s upcoming comedy Tropic Thunder where Cruise dons a fat suit and baldhead, your next chance to see the mega hunk will be in the film Valkyrie. With the movie being beset by a host of issues including footage so damaged it couldn’t be salvaged and a bunch of extra’s taking injury during filming, the movie originally slated for a June 27th premier was moved back to October 3rd and is now slated to go to theaters on February 13th. Moving the WWII themed film away from blockbuster season seemed a sound enough decision but moving it out of Oscar territory and into the quagmire of mid winter bore-fests has prompted reactions like this one:

In the end, Angelina lost the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role award to past Oscar winner Julie Christie for her role in “Away From Her.” “No Country For Old Men” won Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture honor and Javier Bardem was awarded for his role in the film, earning the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role nod. The Sopranos swept the dramatic television awards last night. The final season the the HBO blockbuster won the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award plus Edie Falco and James Gandolfini each won an Outstanding Performance by an actor in a dramatic series award. Definitely the most touching acceptance speech of the evening was Daniel Day-Lewis’. Daniel won the award, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, for his role in “There Will Be Blood.” During his acceptance speech, he dedicated the award to Heath Ledger, who died unexpectedly last week. According to People when asked why Daniel dedicated the award to Ledger, he replied,

Well even I’m starting to feel bad for former heartthrob Tom Cruise. Seems Hollywood’s former golden boy is still having a bit of trouble fixing his much tarnished image despite garnering a double episode on Oprah to celebrate the rerelease of the film that made him a star, Risky Business. Now sources are saying that Tom’s considered, well, old:
