Straight Actor Grossed Out By The Thought Of Playing Gay Guys
Actor and columnist Nicholas Brown wrote a piece for The Atlantic about how he auditioned for a role in an AIDS PSA and got skeeved about having to play a homo.
The Atlantic (via Queerty):
I am not gay. I have no shortage of gay friends. My uncle is gay. I’ve marched in a gay pride parade. More than half of the roommates I have lived with are gay. I support marriage equality.
So it comes as a shock to me when I realize that, actually, if I am honest with myself, I’m not comfortable with kissing another man on camera. I really don’t want to book this part.
I don’t want people to think I’m gay. And I’m even more uncomfortable because that isn’t a thought that I want to have.
Oh, the violins. My people thank you.
I, at least, am sorry. You don’t have to believe in a Judeo-Christian god to find something redeeming in confession. I am sorry that I balked at the idea of pretending to be gay. I am sorry that my uncle went home alone all those years. I am sorry for the whole ugly human history of slights and hate crimes and exclusion.
Easy there, Matyr Mike. Can someone collect my eyeballs because they’ve rolled right the fuck out of their sockets. Do

Christopher Nolan recently said it’s as tough for older actors to get roles as it is for older actresses. Not if you’re Alan Arkin. This has been a big week for the 78-year-old actor, who was nominated for a Golden Globe on Thursday for his performance as a crusty film producer in Argo.
Earlier this week, Arkin ht the red carpet for his new flick Stand Up Guys in which he stars opposite Al Pacino and Christopher Walken.
The film’s director Fisher Stevens was also on hand and told me he much prefers directing to acting. It’s better to paint the entire picture than just be a small part of it, he says. As for Julianna Margulies — another Golden Globe nominee for her work on The Good Wife — she said co-starring in the film was like taking a master class in acting. Hoo-ah!

The New York Film Critics Circle Association certainly livened up the Oscar race today by choosing Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty as the Best Picture of 2012 and picking two real surprises in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor categories: respectively, Rachel Weisz for The Deep Blue Sea and Matthew McConaughey for two movies, Magic Mike and Bernie.

The popular McConaughey’s win produced a lot of hurrahs in the Twitter-verse as well as speculation that he could get some Oscar consideration. He is, after all, also nominated for an Independent Spirit Best Supporting Male award for Magic Mike.
The biggest surprise — or head-scratcher, depending on your perspective — was the NYFCC’s decision to give its Best Actress honor to Rachel Weisz for her performance in the Terence Davies-directed The Deep Blue Sea. Weisz and the picture haven’t exactly been on awards pundits radar screens since statuette season began, although Davies and largely undiscovered art-house gems are popular with the NYFCC. Also, Hairspray filmmaker John Waters contends it’s the best picture of the year.
Meanwhile, NYFCC wins for Zero Dark Thirty (Best Picture) and Kathryn Bigelow (Best Director) could be an initial sign that Steven Spielberg and Lincoln aren’t bulletproof when it comes to going all the way in the Oscar Best Picture and Director categories. But Daniel Day-Lewis remains the Best Actor to beat.
The entire list of winners is below.
Best Picture: Zero Dark Thirty
Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow, Zero Dark Thirty
Best Screenplay: Tony Kushner, Lincoln
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln
Best Actress: Rachel Weisz, The Deep…

James Marsden is not a Barry Manilow fan, no matter what you may have read in his IMDb.com bio. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Bachelorette actor explains that he’s the victim of “a famous actor friend of mine” who “likes to go into other people’s bios and add things.”
Marsden won’t identify the guy, but apparently, the wiseacre managed to get the usually reliable IMDb to embellish the Enchanted actor’s bio with the erroneous tidbit that Marsden was a big fan of the “Copacabana” crooner. As a result, Marsden has had to field frequent questions on the subject, most recently when Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush asked him about Manilow at the Napa Valley Film Festival on Nov. 9.
A spokesperson for IMDb told THR that information submitted to the site “goes through a series of consistency checks before it goes live,” but that given “the sheer volume of the information, occasional mistakes are inevitable, and, when reported, they are promptly fixed.”
The Manilow reference does appear to have been removed from IMDb, but why do I feel like it’s only a matter of time before the bio bandit strikes again.

Police are investigating the death of 28-year-old actor Johnny Lewis, whose credits include AVPR: Aliens vs Predator – Requiem, The Runaways, Lovely Molly, TV’s Drake & Josh, The O.C., and American Dreams following the apparent murder of his elderly landlord in Los Angeles. Lewis was best known for playing Kip ‘Half Sack’ Epps on Sons of Anarchy.
The body of 81-year-old Katherine Chabot Davis was found inside her Los Feliz home, where Lewis was renting a room. Per reports, Lewis fought with at least two people at the site before taking a fatal fall. According to TMZ, authorities believe “Lewis was either on PCP or meth at the time of the murder. The two people who fought Lewis before he fell to his death from a roof told cops the actor exhibited ’superhuman strength.’”

The 2012 Emmy Winners Presented By Kat Dennings' Chichis
Since today’s theme is turning into cleavage of all kinds, here’s Kat Dennings hiking her chichi balls up so high that the feet of the angels can practically touch them. The Emmys should’ve opened last night with Kat and Christina Hendricks trying to hug, because that would’ve been a real show. It would’ve looked like four baby sumo wrestlers head butting each other over and over again. No, the Emmys didn’t do that. They decided to hand out a bunch of awards to a bunch of boring ass shows instead.
You know what would’ve been easier? If they just showed a live shot of a dump truck backing up into Honey Boo Boo Chile’s front lawn and dumping hundreds upon hundreds of trophies in front of her house. The Emmys can retire forever, because no other show will come close to reaching the levels of artistic excellence that Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has reached. Just give Mama June all the Emmys and everyone can go home.
But the dumb bitches at the Emmys didn’t do that either. They spent 3 hours passing out trophies and you can click here for a full list, but I threw some of the winners after the cut. If you say the line “Should’ve been Mama June’s Forklift Foot” after reading each winner’s
