European Film Awards Name 47 Films Including Toronto/Cannes Titles on Nominations List
Cannes winner Amour, Rust and Bone and Ken Loach’s The Angel’s Share made the list of films that are on the list for European Film Awards nominations. 31 European countries have films along the 47. In the coming weeks, the 2,700 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the different award categories. The nominations will then be announced on 3 November at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain. The 25th European Film Awards with the presentation of the winners – streamed live on www.europeanfilmawards.eu – will take place in Malta on 1 December.
Toronto’s Stories We Tell Heads to Theaters
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sarah Polley’s Stories We Tell has been picked up by Roadside Attractions and plans an early 2013 release. In the doc, she assembles a montage of home movies, interviews, and narration to examine the repercussions of long-held family secrets that come to light.
Breaking the Girls Heads to U.S. Theaters
The Jamie Babbit thriller will have a limited theatrical release in the U.S. Starring Madeline Zima (Californication and Agnes Bruckner (Blood and Chocoate, the film is the story of a university student who, when slandered by a hostile classmate, is befriended by the manipulative Alex (Zima) who proposes the perfect, untraceable crime – to kill each other’s archenemies. …
The inspiring if short-lived “Linsanity” that orbited breakout NY Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin in February — which ultimately culminated in a battle of teammate egos that found head coach Mike D’Antoni on the unemployment line within a month — is finally getting the closer documentary look it deserves.
The LAT notes that CAA has begun making the rounds to studios and distributors to pitch the film, elaborating:
According to a person familiar with the pitch who was not authorized to talk about it publicly, the movie (no firm title yet, so let your pun-riddled imagination run wild) looks both at Lin’s unlikely run in the NBA as well at his humble background. Los Angeles-born and Palo-Alto raised, Lin shone at Harvard after being passed over by recruiters at college powerhouses, then bounced around pro basketball as an undrafted free agent before landing with the Knicks. The movie will also include elements of his Christian faith.
The Lin doc is being directed by Evan Jackson Leong, Lin’s friend and a filmmaker in his own right.
Great — and perfect timing, too! With four to six weeks of bench time thanks to a knee injury, Lin will have plenty of time to contribute as the Knicks wheeze into the playoffs. I’d only advise that the filmmakers take extra care to include Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony; we all know how he can be when he doesn’t get enough minutes.

Coach Molly McGrath (as played by Goldie Hawn) from Wildcats – In honor of today being the day where we all witness the greatest and biggest sporting event of the year, the Puppy Bowl, I thought we should also honor the greatest and most accurate football movie of all-time (all-time being 1986), Wildcats!
Like most of Goldie’s movies in the 80s, in Wildcats she played a scattered-brained blonde ostrich of a ho who throws herself into an unfamiliar situation and zany fucking hijinks ensue. You know, it’s the same formula, same shit. Goldie tries to grab onto her dream of being a legendary football coach like her father by taking a job as a high school football coach to a bunch of asshole losers. They don’t respect Goldie at first and treat her like cold shit, but eventually she tames their asses and transforms them from a bunch of losers into champions by having heart (and by asking Gisele Bundchen to send a “Let Us Pray” email to her friends and family.) And it has Jan Hooks in it so it can’t go wrong. And AND there’s also a (NSFW) quickie peen flash from Wesley Snipes.
It’s been way too long since I’ve seen this mess of a movie, but thankfully it’s on Amazon. So I can watch this shit after I watch a bunch of slobbery beasts mount each other and stick their noses in each other’s assholes. I’m talking about the Puppy Bowl, not that other Bowl nobody cares about.

Just looking at Charlie Sheen’s face makes me want to baste my eyeballs in crack smoke, but I guess Brooke Mueller is willing to take that chance. Charlie’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller is trying to de-crackhead herself in rehab and apparently she’s doing well, so what’s the next logical step for her to take on the road to sobriety? Go to Mexico with the crackhead who tried to stab her face off, of course!
The dehydrated warlock who was mummified with strips of turtle jerky tells TMZ that Brooke is doing so well in rehab that he’s rewarding her by taking her on a trip to Mehico this weekend. One of the definitions of “not end well” in the dictionary of truth is: “crackhead leading a crackhead to Mexico…“
Charlie tells TMZ that Brooke has been “busting her ass with the boys, and [she's] more sober and healthy than I’ve ever seen her.” Charlie is making it his mission in life to get her completely cleaned up and free of crack cravings.
Brooke must still be crack damaged in the brains if she’s getting on a plane and going on a trip with a sleazy-eyed skeeze bag who always has a look in his eye like his head just birthed a bad intention. Did Brooke not learn anything from that sad Robyn Gardner story?
