Donald Trump has put his pet birthing issue on hold at least for the moment, taking to Twitter calling those who opposed a golf course development he planned in Scotland as “morons” and chastising an award-winning filmmaker who spotlighted the scheme a “zero talent.” OK, go ahead and insert a “You’re fired” moment where appropriate…
The Donald posted scathing tweets about Anthony Baxter whose doc You’ve Been Trumped follows the story of a group of Scottish homeowners who take on the reality star/real estate billionaire who tried to buy up a wilderness area near their homes to develop a golf course.
Fellow filmmaker Bill Forsyth penned an article for The Guardian in which he likened Baxter’s doc about the real-life Trump with his fictional account of an American oil company that sends an American to Scotland to buy up a village where they want to build a refinery.
Tit-for-tat followed with Trump spokesperson George Sorial telling the U.K.’s Daily Mail that Forsyth is “nothing more than a misinformed jackass looking for a few headlines on the back of the Trump name.”
Forsythe said the doc is “a moving depiction of human survival and dignity amidst murky doings akin to seventies Romania.”
You’ve Been Trumped follows residents next to the $1.2 billion development showing residents’ water and electricity being cut off and mounds of earth being piled up next to their homes.
The project ran into logistical hurdles and Trump described the filmmakers, which won prizes on the festival circuit last year, as “morons.”
“Your documentary has died many deaths. You have, in my opinion, zero talent,” said Trump. “[You] should really be ashamed about his massive box office disaster. Take a hint and get out of the film business, loser.…

The Triplets development saga just gets better, thanks to Arnold Schwarzenegger: “I can see a poster… A billboard with us three. ‘They found another one!’ ‘Triplets!’ ‘Only their mother can tell them apart!’ I would do that in two seconds, because that’s real entertainment. You come out with that movie for Christmas, like December 5th or something like that, and you’re home free.” [Coming Soon]

For some reason a remake of the 1987 comedy classic Summer School has been in development hell for years, and it may finally come to fruition under Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison banner. Though Sandler hasn’t yet threatened to star as the slacker high school gym teacher forced to start caring about education — a role played with Hawaiian-shirted panache by one Mr. Mark Harmon, and don’t you forget it — the possibility certainly looms over this project, as THR reports that Happy Madison is negotiating to produce. Take a trip down memory lane with the original trailer and decide: If not Sandler, who could fill Harmon’s sockless shoes? (And will there be a part for Kirstie Alley?)

It’s the little things that get us through one otherwise interminable awards season after another: Oscar-nominee trading cards, #ConsiderUggie, The Daldry… That kind of stuff. But perhaps the most remarkable development of the current awards cycle sprung immediately, kind of miraculously from the previous most remarkable development of the current awards cycle. And it all benefits Drive scene-stealer (and recent SAG Award snubbee) Albert Brooks.
Like a cool, calm yet furious avenger sauntering into a room full of showgirls with a hammer in one hand and a bullet in the other, a rep for Drive casually sent along the following dispatch this morning. I share it in its entirety not only for context’s sake, but as a brass-balled example of the best that awards publicity has to offer — transcending unmistakably bad news by saying, in a nutshell: “Yes, we know Mr. Brooks was snubbed. No, we’re not worried. Here’s why. You can’t stop what’s coming. Especially you, Christopher Plummer.” Whatever this guy is paid, it’s not enough:
Good Afternoon Friends,
We appreciate all of your continued support of DRIVE and coverage of the film, especially following this morning’s SAG noms. Thank you for all of your shout-outs to Albert Brooks on Twitter and in your analyses of the SAG nominations in regards to his not being recognized today, but we remain confident that the Supporting Actor race still boils down to a two-man showdown between Albert and Christopher Plummer.
If you will recall, Marcia Gay Harden was not nominated for the SAG in 2000 after her win for Best Supporting Actress at the NYFCC, and went on to win the Oscar for
