After last week’s bizarre President Camacho Funny or Die press conference in which white people were severely maligned, the website has redeemed itself with a get-out-the-vote video from one of its founders, Will Ferrell. I had to watch the video twice because the first time I was terribly distracted by the push-broom mustache Ferrell is wearing in the clip, which makes the number Gary Oldman wore in The Dark Knight Rises look inconspicuous by comparison.
The Anchorman 2 star, whose impersonation of George W. Bush on Saturday Night Live is sorely missed, gets right down to business in the video explaining that he’ll do anything to get you to vote. Ferrell offers to make you a dinner of angel-hair pasta, help you move a couch, eat human toe nails, punch himself in the face or give you a tattoo, though, he warns, “I do not know how to draw.” The actor also shows off some of his dance moves for those who’d be interested in seeing him let his freak flag fly, or just do the Robot. ”That was just a taste,” he promises after getting down with his bad self. “If you want the full buffet, you’re going to have to vote.” I vote that Ferrell gives us a sequel to this video when the polls open tomorrow.
Oh yes, and though Ferrell keeps the political talk non-partisan for most of the video, he does reveal that he’s an Obama man at clip’s end.

With $6.4 million at stake for UNICEF, some of the world’s best footballers faced off in England over the weekend with some of the sport’s most enthusiastic celebrity hobbyists. The good news: Charity won big! The bad news: Celebrities did not, with one even landing in the hospital.
The annual Soccer Aid benefit packed Old Trafford, the home of the Manchester United, where the UK team beat the “Rest of the World” team — comprising the likes of Will Ferrell, Edward Norton, Mike Myers, Gerard Butler, James McAvoy, Woody Harrelson and shouty TV chef Gordon Ramsay — by a score of 3-1. And since no soccer tilt would ever be complete without some poor bastard writhing on the pitch in hyperdramatic anguish, this match was no different — at least until, in the second half, things got really ugly:
Ferrell limped off the field in considerable pain with a leg injury late in Sunday’s annual Soccer Aid game at Manchester United’s Old Trafford but will have counted himself more fortunate than Ramsay, who earlier was hospitalized following a heavy challenge.
The foul-mouthed Hell’s Kitchen star was stretchered off the field while receiving oxygen, after being flattened by former England international Teddy Sheringham midway through the second half. He later was released from the hospital.

Since Will Ferrell dropped the late-night bombshell that Anchorman 2 was a go the other week, the world’s been wondering: What has Ron Burgundy been up to since 2004’s Anchorman? Speaking with AM760/Salon, co-writer/director Adam McKay dropped a few hints about the sequel, which is currently being scripted. “I don’t want to give away too much, but I’ll just give a couple pieces of ideas that we’ve kicked around. Keep in mind we’re still writing the story, but I’ll say one phrase for you: custody battle. I’ll give you that. I’ll give you one other one: bowling for dollars.” So… any guesses?
It has been eight real world years since Ron wooed his lady co-anchor Veronica Corningstone with his sweet jazz flute stylings circa 1975, so assuming the same amount of time has passed in Anchorman years it’d make sense if they now have a little Burgundy running around. Mind you, this is pure speculation, but just think about that for a second: A MINI RON BURGUNDY. YES PLEASE. Maybe the pressures of co-hosting World News Center drove a wedge in Ron and Veronica’s relationship and they’re fighting over their kid, Kramer vs. Kramer-style and the only way to get his family back is with… bowling?

Last night Will Ferrell — excuse me, boys and girls, San Diego newsman, jazz flautist, and scotch enthusiast Ron Burgundy — dropped by Conan O’Brien’s set to jam, give Conan unsolicited grooming tips, and OH YES — make an announcement: “As of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman.” Caress some mahogany, smoke a little tea, and rejoice the good word with a clip of the historic announcement!
According to Deadline, the pieces finally fell into place on the long-hoped for Anchorman 2, which will be directed by Adam McKay and written by McKay and Ferrell. Also according to Deadline, Nikki Finke used to own a set of Anchorman bobbleheads. Great Odin’s beard, let’s toast to the unifying power of Ron Burgundy!

Maybe I’m still annoyed nearly ten years after I saw Anchorman in theaters and was so angry with its juvenile, unfunny, dude-baiting humor that I’m sour to any movie whose theme is “Will Ferrell is a hilariously alpha dimwit!” — but I’m pretty sure Ferrell’s new jam Casa de mi Padre with Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna is downright moronic for real. In fact, the sophisticated-sounding title isn’t a good fit for the film (though it is written entirely in Spanish) and ought to be replaced. Here are nine titles we’d consider, along with the movie’s new teaser trailer.
