When An Anti-Gay Protest Goes RIGHT!
This was everywhere yesterday and I was about to post it, but I stopped myself, because it’s just TOO perfect and I kept waiting for the words “Written & Directed by Christopher Guest” to pop up on the screen at the very end. But The Smoking Gun says that this isn’t a parody and it’s made of one hundred percent Marcus Bachmann realness. Cam from Modern Family’s gayer, slightly less-bearish, closeted dumb ass second cousin LIVES!
TSG says that 65-year-old real estate broker and pink shirt aficionado Michael Leisner is a gay-hating crazy who regularly posts videos on YouTube where he shits up hate at Obama, Bill Maher and Barney Frank for making this country a gayer place. Speaking of making this world a gayer place, Michael staged his own protest on the lawn of the General Mills Headquarters in Minnesota over the weekend, because of their support for same-sex marriage and because Cheerios look like the freshly fucked b-holes of power bottoms. Obviously. As two teenagers giggled at his stupid bitch foolery, Michael tried to really show those gay-loving heathens at General Mills that he means business by torching a box of Honey Nut Cheerios on the front lawn of their headquarters. What was supposed to be a serious protest turned into (read in Madeline Kahn’s voice if you know what’s good) flame, flames, flaaaames on the side of the lawn.
I know Michael Leisner thinks my gay soul will burn in a bowl on top

Hollywood has a long history of sending white dudes to Japan to A) fall in love with a local hottie and B) somehow save Japan itself, and that irksome trend shows no sign of ending, to my dismay. The latest Caucasian hero set to do so is LOST’s Matthew Fox, who’s signed on to play real-life figure General Bonner Fellers in Peter Webber’s Emperor, a “nail-biting political thriller” about post-World War II diplomacy…and Fellers’ love affair with a Japanese woman. Sigh. Of course.
I’ve got no problem with stories about Americans in Japan, or interesting cinematic studies about cultural exchange or ninjas or whatever. But why, when Hollywood looks to Japan, must it so often come down to a white man immersing himself in Japanese culture, always through the love of an exotic Japanese flower, then becoming the one person upon whom the fate of the Japanese people, their code of honor, etc. rests?
In 1958 said hero was John Wayne – the quintessential icon of American masculinity – playing real life diplomat Townsend Harris in John Huston’s The Barbarian and the Geisha. Harris, appointed Consul-General to Japan in the late 1800s, is known for opening the isolated nation to trade with the U.S., indelibly heralding the onset of modern Japan. Legend has it Harris’s treaty negotiations were greased by the assignment of a teenage geisha to his bed, a rumor dismissed as fabrication that nevertheless figures heavily into the film, because how could it not?
A decade later, even super spy James Bond went native, so to speak, donning “ethnic” make-up to blend in with the Japanese in 1967’s You Only Live Twice. He plays house with Kissy Suzuki, then saves Japan (and, okay, the entire world) from evil Ernst Stavro Blofeld.…

A newborn baby’s first cry shouldn’t come from getting slappity slap slapped in the back by the hand of a doctor. No, it should come from getting the area above its eyes waxed, plucked and Sharpie-ed. If I was the Surgeon General, we’d all be fucked I’d demand that every baby must go directly from its mom’s vagina to the brow waxing table no matter what. So this clip from Toddlers & Tiaras of 10-year-old beauty queen Brooklyn getting her brow follicles ripped out (along with some of her childhood) gives me hope!
On the other hand, if I was the Surgeon General, I’d also demand that any new parent who answers “yes” to the question “Are you going to force your kid into child beauty pageants?” be immediately jailed.

How could James Franco’s second day back in Port Charles be even more of a snooze than yesterday’s dramatically weird return, which featured around two minutes of the actor smiling menacingly under a hood (slide A), offering entertainment for food (slide B) and petting a toy monkey in a sinister manner (slide C)? Step into the shadowy alleyway and let Movieline explain.
It was worse because Franco got even less screen time than he did yesterday — less than a minute total, in fact. In that short time, Franco staked out in front of the Harbor View Towers, where his nemesis Jason lives, and during Franco’s first micro-scene (and the only scene in which he had lines), Franco creepily asked the doorman about “the mobster who lives in the penthouse.”
“You ever see any of the bodies that guy murdered?” sneered Franco.
And that was pretty much it. Later that day, Maxie (aka “Crutch Pixie”) saw Frranco in the street but dismissed the hooded figure as a creepy mirage; meanwhile, the rest of Port Charles waited for Franco to emerge from the shadows. To paraphrase one of Franco’s plaintive wails this season, “Who do I have to screw to see some actual performance art?!”
Until then, here is his performance from yesterday.

Let’s be honest about one thing: You did not watch yesterday’s 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Ceremony. You might have tuned in if James Franco had been nominated for his scene-stealing arc on General Hospital and you would have at least TiVo’d the Las Vegas event had you known that host Regis Philbin would accidentally disprove David Copperfield’s entire career during the first 10 minutes of the telecast. But you did not, so relive the night’s most exciting and incriminating moment after the jump — and congratulate the newest Daytime Emmy winners while you’re at it.
Although Daytime Emmy producers skillfully edited around Philbin’s gaffe during last night’s opening act, audience members were treated to a fairly bizarre number, courtesy of the host’s rusty memory. According to several audience member accounts, “the show got off to a bumpy start with illusionist David Copperfield making host Regis Philbin suddenly ‘appear’ onstage. You could hear Philbin say: ‘How did you do it? I can’t believe it,’ while his lips weren’t moving on his onstage image.”
Below, the crafty editing that hid Philbin’s mistake and this year’s Daytime Emmy winners.
