Farewell, Stefon…
If you’re hoping that next season, NBC will completely retool SNL and fill it with nothing but skits starring Stefon (they can call it Stefonly Night Live)… Well, I have to break your boner of dreams, because that’s not happening. Stefon (real name: William Hader) told The New York Times (Side note: In the past 12 hours, I’ve been posting so much stuff from The New York Times. Does that me smarter or them trashier?) that he’ll take his final bow on the SNL stage during Saturday’s season finale. Bill Hader has been on SNL for 8 years and he says that it’s time for him to officially, once and for all quit that bitch:
“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point. It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’ ”
Seth Meyers is leaving after next season to do Late Night and the Times says that Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis might also follow Bill Hader out the exit door.
The good news is that now Bill Hader has time to make a road trip movie starring himself as Stefon and himself as Lindsey Buckingham.

Jennifer Lawrence hasn’t had many opportunities to show off her comedic chops onscreen — she only burst onto the scene three years ago in Winter’s Bone, then quickly filled up her dance card with action blockbusters like X-Men: First Class and The Hunger Games before taking on the awards season contender Silver Linings Playbook — but the Best Actress front-runner has been delighting awards-watchers left and right on the Oscar circuit these past few months. The girl is funny — sardonic, whip-smart, witty, self-deprecating, and she knows what’s what as she plays the Hollywood game, which is why her post-Golden Globes hosting gig on Saturday Night Live will be one to watch.
The promo bits are hit and miss — spoofing awards season with Jason Sudeikis, Lawrence at least nails the giddy awkwardness of getting up on that podium only to be played off by the orchestra, amirite Daniel Day-Lewis? — but it’s promising enough just to see her mugging for the laughs. Here’s hoping once that Silver Linings Oscar is on her mantle she’ll tackle some comedies. Actual real comedies that grown-ups might want to watch! Now there’s an idea.
The SNL gig also cements Lawrence as the popular favorite in her race, although I’d totally watch Emmanuelle Riva and Quvenzhané Wallis tag-team an SNL co-hosting gig. Think bigger next time, guys.

She’s been a bride with a torn wedding dress in Bachelorette, a voice in animation in Ice Age: Continental Drift and a pitch perfect Fat Amy in, well… Pitch Perfect. And for her next act, Rebel Wilson wants her MTV.
Wilson follows in the footsteps of 2012 host Russell Brand who followed Jason Sudeikis and other past notables like Andy Samberg (2009), Mike Myers (2008), Sarah Silverman (2007) and even Lindsay Lohan (2004).
The Australian-born actress with a name that’s too cool for school has been tapped as the host of the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. The network announced the news during the season finale of Jersey Shore &mdash’ natch! &mdash for the big event taking place Sunday, April 14th.
Get your golden popcorn on! And who will win Best Kiss? Not those vampires again?!?
She gives good candy in this promo:

SNL Might Be Wiig-Less Next Season
And Samberg-less. And Jason Sudeikis-less. UsWeekly is saying that Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis will all punch out their time cards at 30 Rock for the final time when the season ends. The source had this to say about Kristen, Andy and Jason quitting that bitch after this season:
“Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are all leaving after the end of the season. It will be a huge blow to the show. Without Andy’s video shorts and Kristen saving every skit, they’ll need help!”
A rep for Kristen and Andy say that UsWeekly needs to get up in front of the class and tell everyone that they can no longer get candy from the candy jar as a reward, because they told a lie. (True story: My third grade teacher made me do that after I lied about taking candy from the candy jar. But in my defense, my mom’s idea of candy was an apple slice, so my shit was hard up for candy!)
Kristen and Andy say NO to this, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if it turned out to be true. Kristen has to go and write the remake of Bridesmaids (with the way Hollywood works, we’re due for one), Jason Sudeikis is busy starring in blind items about January Jones and Andy Samberg has to plan his big wedding with his true soulmate Justin Timberlake (that Jessica Biel shit is a front!).

Harry Potter star (or, as Saturday Night Live’s Jason Sudeikis dubs him below, “Sex Wizard”) Daniel Radcliffe will step up to host SNL this Saturday, so to prepare for the big night he and Sudeikis shot a promo video teasing the hilarity to come. “Are you doing a character? Like a chimney sweep?” Sudeikis asks upon hearing Radcliffe speak. “Can you do an American accent?” With a resounding “Chill, broseph,” Radcliffe shows that yes, he totes can. Watch the erstwhile Harry Potter speak bro and wax poetic about Mountain Dew after the jump.
I’m inclined to be optimistic that SNL first-timer Radcliffe can pull off the gig, probably playing straight man to Sudeikis and Co. like many a guest host from the world of dramatic acting. Will it top Charles Barkley’s ratings grabber from last weekend? Probably not — that is, unless Radcliffe heeds Sudeikis’s words of wisdom and dances like nobody’s watching.
Which raises the question: Is there room for yet another track-suited white boy back-up dancer on What Up With That?

As Jason Sudeikis’s coke-snorting, kung fu-practicing, pot-bellied new supervisor in Horrible Bosses, which notched an impressive number 2 box office slot last weekend, second to Michael Bay’s 3-D robotstravaganza Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Colin Farrell is a revelation of douchebag assholery, the last person you’d want above you in the workplace food chain. (Well, one of them.) But which former gaming world champion deserves credit for loosely inspiring portions of Farrell’s characterization — and could Farrell portray this muse one day on the big screen?
Director Seth Gordon shared the tale of Farrell’s Horrible Bosses transformation Sunday night at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood, where I moderated a post-screening Q&A alongside Digital LA’s Kevin Winston. As it happens, Gordon worked with Farrell to develop the terrible, swaggering, offensive-in-almost-every-way Bobby Pellitt with a little help from his own documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.
“When I first met Colin, he wanted to disappear into the character,” Gordon explained to a packed theater. “We talked about a bald cap, we talked about a belly, we had those prosthetics made for him, just to see. That wasn’t scripted, nor was the kung fu. It was just a very dynamic, creative process.”
“When he put those prosthetics on, he literally changed,” he continued. “I’d also shown him a doc I did, The King of Kong, and there’s a guy in the movie who’s got this amazing hair, and who walks with a cockiness that’s frozen in time from the ’80s. I think that really informs the posturing that Bobby does.”
Amazing hair? Surefire cockiness? Gordon could only be talking about one…

There’s something for pretty much everybody this weekend at the movies — fresh new dishes and some heat-lamped empty calories at the multiplex, crypto-spiritual potboilers and swell nonfiction at the art house. And a variety of snacks in between. But only one can be America’s favorite.* Your Weekend Forecast is here.

NATIONAL OUTLOOK
· Horrible Bosses: The Golden Era of R-Rated Comedy — or at least the era of R-rated comedy that seems to be lucrative if not particularly well-developed or consistently funny — rolls on with this effort. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day co-star with their namesake nemeses Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston, enlisting “murder consultant” Jamie Foxx to help them dispatch the bastards before another humiliating workplace episode can unfold. The ensemble’s great if not exactly… hot, but that’s good enough for No. 2 opposite a Transformers franchise that will barrel back to the finish line Sunday night with around $45 million in its tank. And in keeping with the raunchy spirit of the summer, it will be a solid No. 2! Wait, that totally came out wrong. Ugh, so did that. UGH. FORECAST: $31.2 million
· Zookeeper: Talking animals. Kevin James. PG rating. That’s like a license to print money. A bit of a grueling, unfunny, overbearing license, but a license nonetheless. And don’t forget it’s got the Gorilla Technology Envelope going for it, which is good for at least… er… Just never mind. FORECAST:…

Generally speaking, it’s good that we’re seeing more R-rated comedies. There’s nothing less raunchy — or less funny — than implied raunchiness, gags that aren’t allowed to go the distance because they might corrupt a minor. Comedies that don’t have to fit into PG-13 constraints allow writers, directors and actors to give us characters who are free to talk the way real people talk and do the things real people do.
Or not. Characters in R-rated comedies often say stuff just because they can. In Seth Gordon’s Horrible Bosses, for instance, an unapologetic horndog played by Jason Sudeikis sees a picture of a babe and announces that he’d like to “bend her over and show her all 50 states.”
Who says anything like that in real life? No one does, and as it turns out, the line becomes its own meta-joke in the outtakes that cap off the picture: The fact that no one would ever say it becomes the selling point. But there are enough other gags in Horrible Bosses that seem to exist not because they’re all that funny, but because the R rating will allow them. Maybe we’ve gotten to the point where comedies are, consciously or otherwise, reverse-engineered to be as outrageous as possible, instead of simply written to make us laugh.
Though that’s not to say Horrible Bosses is never funny. Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Sudeikis play three buddies working in different fields who have one problem in common: Each of them works for a terrible person. Bateman’s…

Unless your boss plays mind games with you involving genitalia and shaved coconut, makes you work while your “gam-gam” is on her deathbed, and insults you for sport, he/she has nothing on Kevin Spacey in the new UK trailer for Horrible Bosses. So, watch and take pleasure knowing that your superior (hopefully) won’t ever be as bad as the power-wielding Spacey, the sexually inappropriate Jennifer Aniston or the coke-fiend Colin Farrell.
Horrible Bosses starring Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day opens in theaters Friday.
