Also in this Tuesday edition of The Broadsheet: Greta Gerwig finds the indie romcom she’s been waiting for… Wes Anderson’s newest starts filming… what kind of Osama bin Laden movie do you want to see… and more ahead.
· Comedy boner! Lizzy Caplan, Adam Scott, Kirsten Dunst and Casey Wilson have been cast in the Will Ferrell-produced wedding comedy Bachelorette (title subject to change). Translation: the new film is one-third of the way toward being a continuation of Party Down! Or not. Caplan and Dunst will play best friends, who — along with a third, uncast friend — get asked to be bridesmaids at the wedding of a girl they used to call “pigface” in high school (Wilson). Typical wedding shenanigans likely ensue, including one subplot involving Caplan’s character (described as “having a Playboy Bunny body with a Larry David brain”) and Scott’s, her high school crush. Newcomer Leslye Headland wrote the script and will direct — its based on her own off-Broadway play called Bachelorette — but the one obvious question must be asked: Does every perfectly cast female-centric comedy have to be about a wedding? Can’t one just be about two girls going to the grocery store? [THR]
· Speaking of cast crushes: Greta Gerwig will star in Lola Versus, an indie romcom about a girl (Gerwig) who was left at the altar by her fiancé (Orlando Bloom). You had me at Gerwig, Lola Versus. [Variety]
· The worldwide rights for Moonrise Kingdom — the next Wes Anderson film you’ll love, starring Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman — were acquired by Focus Features, with eyes toward selling them at Cannes this…

Upright Citizens Brigade co-founder Matt Walsh (Outsourced) called on a dozen of his fellow comedians to act in his directorial debut High Road, an improvised film about a weed dealer (James F. Pumphrey) torn between his “career,” his musical aspirations, and his pregnant girlfriend (Abby Elliott). Hit the trailer after the jump and see how many of your favorite comedy players, including veterans of The State, Saturday Night Live, and Walsh’s short-lived series Players show up in the lo-fi indie comedy. (Well hello, Horatio Sanz!)
Okay, here’s a cheat sheet: Lizzy Caplan, Abby Elliott, Rob Riggle, Ed Helms, Joe Lo Truglio, Kyle Gass, Horatio Sanz, Andrew Daly, and more co-star with Pumphrey in the film, which is based loosely on a drug dealer Walsh knew once in Chicago who went on to enjoy a successful career as a writer.
Walsh, who has appeared in every single Todd Phillips movie to date, co-wrote High Road with Josh Weiner and gathered so much footage that he reportedly began editing with an eight-hour cut of the film. The 83-minute final version premieres at the Newport Beach Film Festival on April 29.

A Party Down Movie?:
The Veronica Mars feature may have never gotten off the ground but Lizzy Caplan is hoping that she and the Party Down crew can continue their catering careers for the big screen (even if that means that they’ll literally have to cater their own movie). “We want it so bad,” she told Hitfix last week about the latest Rob Thomas series to be killed before its time. “We could do it for no money, no time. We would do it for free. I just don’t know if we’re legally allowed to do it.” Chris Albrecht, do you have a problem with that? [Hitfix]
