Blind Items: I Guess, You Guess
This A list reality star apparently caught her A list celebrity boyfriend in way more than just a lip lock with another guy. It does not seem to have slowed down their relationship at all though. (CDAN)
Kim Kartrashian and Kanye? I’m not saying that I don’t think Kanye has never gargled a pair of low hangers before, but I doubt he was doing it with another dude. Kanye was just humping his naked reflection in the mirror again. Like he always does.
We were all a little sad, I think, when it was confirmed that they’d broken up. No one sadder than him. But she left him because of his drinking. It was excessive, and with the experience of her last relationship, she saw the signs and opted for self-preservation. In addition to his relationship with alcohol though, he also had an unconventional relationship with sex. Think…Michael Fassbender in Shame. Along those lines. Though he was faithful to her, totally, there are addiction issues he clearly has to address. And he’s doing that now, going to meetings, reaching out to another celebrity in recovery with whom he’s worked, as some of their issues are quite similar. He’s almost a month sober now and, yes, he’s doing it, in part, to get her back which… well… they know that’s not the way, don’t they? A few people close

If you’d like one good reason to see Killing Them Softly in spite of its F Cinemascore and anemic opening box-office numbers, I’ll give you a great one: Scoot McNairy’s portrayal of the tragi-comic hood Frankie in Andrew Dominik’s contemporary film noir is the kind of breakthrough performance that will stick with you long after the financials are forgotten.
Movieline talked to McNairy about the path that led him to work with Dominik and Brad Pitt, and his busy work slate. The Texas native can currently be seen in the Ben Affleck-directed Argo, a job that, he says got with the help of Dominik. He also has a few scenes in the Gus Van Sant-directed Promised Land, which opens on Dec. 28, and, next up, are two films with Michael Fassbender and Animal Kingdom director David Michod’s The Rover with Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.

Movieline: Looking through your credits, I noticed that you’ve done quite a bit of producing as well as acting.
Scoot McNairy: Yeah, it’s funny. I got into producing from having done commercials for so long. I was financially stable at the time, and I had so much time on my hands that I just got bored and said I can’t be sitting around. I figured that I could at least be putting together projects or looking for material for me to do. I felt like I should just be generating my own work.
Tell me a little bit about yourself. Where are you from and how’d you get into acting?
I was born and raised outside of Dallas. I did some theater when I was a kid. …

Prepare for a double dose of mutant powers: The X-Men of the past and future will collide in Bryan Singer’s forthcoming sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will bring Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto together with their X-Men: First Class counterparts James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender in the same film, Singer announced today.
I’d like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, & Nicholas Hoult to #XMEN for #DaysOfFuturePast
— Bryan Singer (@BryanSinger) November 27, 2012
Thrilled to announce @ianmckellen118 & @sirpatstew are joining the cast of #XMEN #DaysOfFuturePast #magneto #professorX More to come…
— Bryan Singer (@BryanSinger) November 27, 2012
This should be exciting for X-Men fans, who’ve seen the comic book franchise flit around timelines and younger/older versions of the same characters since Singer’s X-Men spawned a film universe of spin-offs and standalone superhero pics. This synopsis for X-Men: Days of Future Past explains how two Professor Xs and Magnetos can co-exist in the same film (via The Film Stage):
The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men.
It’s…

The most interesting part of Bryan Singer’s return to the X-Men franchise he helped launch is that in directing X-Men: Days Of Future Past,” the sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s 1962-set prequel X-Men: First Class, he’ll have helmed films in different sub-series timelines within the same franchise.
The only other example akin to this sort of thing might be in the James Bond universe, with directors like Guy Hamilton, Lewis Gilbert, John Glen, and Martin Campbell helming different Bond pics with different 007 actors in the role.
Singer directed 2000’s X-Men and 2003’s X2 to great commercial success before handing over the reigns to Brett Ratner for X-3: The Last Stand, but he remained onboard the franchise as Vaughn stepped up to direct First Class, which he produced. He’ll also produce Days of Future Past, which is set to bring back stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence and already has a release date of July 18, 2014.
At this point Singer is uniquely invested in the X-Men franchise, and now that he’s done with Jack The Giant Killer he’ll turn his attentions back to the mutant comic book adaptation series. While he’s a safe choice for the directing gig, his last superhero outing, however, was the disappointing Superman Returns. Thoughts, Movieliners?
