Gen Art, the yearly New York film festival that attracts a good-looking get in-the-know crowd to its packaged week of nightly premieres followed by a party at different NYC hot-spots has unveiled details on its 17th edition taking place August 8 – 14. Missed Connections starring Jon Abrahams and Mickey Sumner will open the festival, while the world premiere of The Kitchen starring Laura Prepon and Dreama Walker will close out the fest. The 14 selected films also include performances from actors such as Bryan Greenberg, Kathy Bates, Christopher Lloyd, Toby Hemingway, Kurt Fuller and Jake Hoffman, with directorial debuts from Ryan Eggold (90210) and Jaime King (Sin City).
“Our festival this year features intriguing performances from prominent actors as well as some exceptional work from talent making their debuts on both sides of the lens,” commented Marc Lotenberg, CEO of GenArt in a statement. “We look forward to this event every year and are glad to be back to give these talented filmmakers a chance to have their New York city premieres.”

So, I used to have this boyfriend who liked to call me “kitten” (“Does anybody know where I can find a vampire to glamour that thought from the storage unit in my brain?” – you) as a joke and one time I was playing my voicemails on speakerphone in the break room of my job. Just as my boyfriend said “Hi kitten, it’s me,” my supervisor strolls in and says something like, “I know you’re not a 4-year-old white girl and I know that’s not your father. That voicemail is completely inappropriate and nobody other than you needs to hear that. Shit, I don’t even know if you need to hear it.” She had a point. That’s sort of how I feel about this video message one of Brit Brit’s owners, Jason Trawick, uploaded for the whole world to see.
It’s supposed to be sweet, but to me it looks like a cross between a death bed goodbye video and a hostage situation video. Either dude got into Brit Brit’s pill stash or he’s bleeding from the butt and slowly falling into a coma while recording this mess. Even his tongue sounds drugged up. I mean, that lisp….

On last night’s American Idol, JLo moved the hell out of her lips while twerking her shit with a chorus of John Travolta’s wet dreams. JLo wouldn’t be JLo if she didn’t shove her piece into our eyes, and so Casper Smart got a starring spot. Casper twirled out, grabbed on JLo’s ottoman pouf ass and the two practically swallowed each other’s breaths. It looked like an interpretive dance of a seal eating a duck (you decide which is which). I think I speak for the Dragon Tales Twins when I say: “GROSS, MOM! STOP!”
I sort of like that JLo is humping on one of her dancers, because it probably creates serious backstage drama. Showgirls isn’t just a movie. It’s LIFE! I bet Casper gets his own dressing room, a later call time and doesn’t have to eat brown rice and vegetables with the other dancers. Bitch gets it special. I wonder which one of the dancers grabbed Casper backstage and shouted at his ass, “You fuck her for the spot? Or you fuck her cause you wanted to?”

Some said that it was way too soon for Oprah to interview Bobbi Kristina, but O’s response was that she only did so to show the world the real Nippy. Can somebody lend me their eyeballs, because mine just rolled right out of their sockets (thank everything for Braille keyboards) after Oprah said that shit. O, please, that interview was a bailing bucket scooping water out of the sinking ego ship that is the S.S. OWN.
Anyway, Bobbi Kristina said that the day before Nippy floated up to heaven (where the angels can pop a stubborn doody bubble with a simple air kiss blown to the butt), she slept in her mother’s arms for hours. A day after Whitney’s death, Bobbi Kristina couldn’t bring herself to go back to her mother’s house in Atlanta until Nippy’s voice told her it was okay. Since then, the spirit of Nippy has stayed with Bobbi Kristina and even turns on the lights for her like a paranormal Clapper.

Full Story »Damn Maya Rudolph for not bringing out her Nippy impersonation last night. That was one of the only reasons why I kept my eyelids propped up and didn’t allow myself to fall into a red wine/fried pancakes induced coma at the foot of my bed last night. Maybe Maya thought it was sort of kind of disrespectful to do Whitney on the same day as the funeral, but she could’ve at least let out a “hussy” or two as Cousin Dionne. Oh well, but Maya did do Beyonce on SNL last night and Justin Timberlake (who should really quit movies for good and join the SNL cast full-time) did his best Bon Iver. Strangely enough, Justin’s Bon Iver impression is also a spot-on impression of my old high school world history teacher who decorated the back seat of his Tercel with stuffed animals and ate toothpaste instead of chewing gum because it’s cheaper.
In other SNL news, in two weeks, a freckled train full of drunk fuckery will crash into 30 Rock when Lindsay Lohan hosts on March 3rd. Don’t ask me what LiLo is even promoting. The sea jasper industry? A new super strain of herp? Collagen? Bitch’s performances in the court room aside, LiLo hasn’t acted in like years and now she’s doing live TV for 90 minutes? It should’ve been called “The Check is Mine,” because this is not the shit I’ve been waiting 14 years for. Any song that name drops Facebook should be poked all the way to the bottom of the charts.
If I was listening to this boring mess in the car, I would’ve fallen asleep at the wheel, lost control and killed somebody. This sounds like it was written as the theme song for a Tyler Perry movie after the producers scraped their dimes together and realized they can’t afford the rights to “Irreplaceable.” I’m just going to use my imagination to pretend that I never heard this and that Monica and Brandy are still working on a follow-up to “The Boy is Mine” called “You Can Have That Bitch (The Dick Is Trash).“

Pretty much every single performer at the Macy’s Skanksgiving Day Parade moves their mouths to a pre-recordered track, because of sound issues or some shit like that. So it’s sort of like an unofficial competition to see who can successfully LIP SYNCH FOR THEIR LIFE!!! and who lip-synchs as good as a walrus’ asshole. Scotty McCreery, the Howdy Doody fetus with a Stetson Man voice who won American Idol last season, threw himself into the latter category yesterday when his moving lips lagged 3 seconds behind his singing voice. (Yes, THIS is news.) You know, I watched some of Brit Brit’s Femme Fatale Tour on HBO yesterday (blame the 6,000 calorie meal that put me into a body coma and made it impossible for me to even raise my hand to change the channel) and Scotty makes her look like the grand champion of Puttin’ On The Hits. That’s saying a lot. So at least his ass accomplished that.
