You’ve probably heard by now that actress and noted possessor of ethereal beauty Kate Winslet went and married herself a new husband earlier this month. We have no idea if these two crazy kids can make it work, but here’s hoping they decide to have kids, because husband number 3 is walking around with the unlikely name of Ned Rocknroll.
So who is this guy? Strangely, he isn’t a former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver or an L.A. Laker. As it turns out, if you heard the name ‘Ned Rocknroll’ and thought ‘eccentric millionaire,’ you’d be 100 percent right. Ned is Richard Branson’s nephew; he currently ekes out a living on what must surely be a pauper’s wage as the head of marketing promotion and something called ‘Astronaut Experience’ at Branson’s commercial spaceflight company, Branson Galactic.
Mr. Rocknroll obviously wasn’t born into the Rocknroll family. Cursed at birth with the impossibly bland name of ‘Ned Abel Smith,’ he chose his much more memorable moniker, according to ex wife Eliza Pearson, because he thinks people take themselves too seriously. Practicing what he preaches, he legally changed his name to one that would ensure neither he, nor anyone else, would be able to do that to him again. Fun fact: it turns out that you can’t legally choose a single name as your official name, which is why he went with Ned Rocknroll instead of his first choice, just ‘Ned.’ Sorry, Morrissey!
As far as crazy names go, Rocknroll doesn’t quite live up to the standard that Douglas Adams established with Wonko the Sane from So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish, but it’ll do in a pinch. Full Story »James Spader doesn’t just make a great lobbyist in in Lincoln. The actor, who provides welcome moments of comic relief as William N. Bilbo — the Democratic operative whose methods of persuasion prove invaluable to the passage of the 13th Amendment — gave an answer befitting a contemporary Beltway arm-twister when I asked him to name his favorite president. Noting that President Obama had just seen Lincoln “and had wonderful things to say about it,” Spader replied: “So, of course my favorite president today is, without a doubt, Barack Obama.”
During a surprisingly honest discussion about the film, Spader talked about the kind of lobbying that’s done in Washington today versus the kind his character was involved in during Lincoln’s time. He also briefly addressed another kind of lobbying: the kind that takes place every year around this time in the run-up to the Academy Awards.

Because the Fall of Robsten conspiracies are the new 9/11 conspiracies, Jenni Maier at Mashable burped up this hilariously ridiculous video as proof that Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Rupert Sanders and Liberty Ross all manufactured the escandalosoness to bump up their careers. Nobody knew who Liberty Ross was before her husband munched on KStew’s box in a Mini Cooper, but now she’s suddenly walking the Alexander Wang show at NYFW. Nobody really knew who Rupert Sanders was and now everybody including my mom (who barely knows my first name and sometimes calls me by her cat’s name on accident) knows his name. Both RPattz and KStew had non-Twilight movies to promote, so it all makes sense! Well, it makes sense after you smoke a couple of bowls and freebase the Twihard juice. You don’t want to know what Twihard juice is. It’s not so much juice as it is cream. I’ll stop.
Jenni at Mashable asked the second thing I asked after watching this video. The first thing I asked myself was, “Why am I watching this video? Wouldn’t straightening then crimping my pubes be a better use of my time?” The second thing I asked myself was, “If they were all in it together, why would they need to doctor the pictures? I know you didn’t think it was possible for Shia LaDouche to get even more hardcore and method, but he has. Soon, some poor actress will reconsider her choices in life when she watches the crotch critters jump off of Shia’s dirty dick bush while he does sex on her for real in Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, but that won’t be the first time he has gotten real for his art.
Shia guzzled down moonshine for real like his character in Lawless does, and for his new movie The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, he really tripped out on acid just like his character does. Watching the last Transformers shit show was like sitting in the middle of the brown eye of the worst acid trip ever, so at least Shia feels my pain now.
Shia told USA Today (via Vulture) that just like how Sean Penn actually strapped himself into the chair in Dead Man Walking, he tries to get inside the head of his characters by doing the same shit they do. Move out of the way, because we’ve got a real badass here:
