Tonight, Cars 2 audiences will see a teaser of Pixar’s first fairy tale Brave during previews. In case you can’t make it out to the multiplex — or would just rather spend $12 to see Bad Teacher — the Disney company has released the clearest image to date of the film’s red-haired heroine, Princess Merida.
Kelly Macdonald voices Merida while Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd and Craig Ferguson contribute their vocal stylings to the Pixar picture. The film — about a Scottish princess who defies her parents by persuing an interest in archery only to jeopardize her father’s kingdom in the process — is due in theaters June 22, 2012.

God is smiting you by incorporating both of those things in the upcoming Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked film. Here’s a taste of the trailers that will be haunting every theater-going experience for you between now and Christmas.

If you’ve worn out your copy of the Twilight soundtrack (and you know who you are), you know that there’s a soulful, sensitive musician within soulful, sensitive actor Robert Pattinson; his soft warblings pop up in the background of a scene in the first film and everything! So, Twi-hards, sit back and delight in the expressive vocal stylings of RPattz as he serenades a roomful of onlookers whilst strumming his guitar.

For the third week in a row, chatty cartoon animals ruled the box office as the birds of Rio took the top spot with a blockbuster $40 million opening. Coming in a distant second place was the 90s nostalgia curio, Scream 4, which netted a horrifying $19 million; you’ll recall that Scream 3 had a $34 million opening weekend and that was back when ticket prices were lower and this all used to be orange groves. And speaking of wayback when, Robert Redford’s The Conspirator opened in ninth place; sorry James McAvoy! I still love you, boo!. Your weekend receipts are here.
