Eat your heart out, Strasberg: Actor Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans), in Atlanta filming Ten with Arnold Schwarzenegger, was pepper-sprayed by a doorman after allegedly becoming disruptive on Saturday, then was handcuffed and arrested for disorderly conduct — and still managed to remain in character! Kinda.
Per TMZ:
Cops say the “Avatar” star was at Vortex, a restaurant in Atlanta, when he was refused entrance because people at the door felt he was too intoxicated … this after he got into an argument because he didn’t have the ID required to get inside the club.
According to the police report, a witness told cops Worthington became disorderly. He allegedly pushed the doorman twice and the doorman responded by pepper spraying him and putting him in cuffs until the cops arrived.
And then… AND THEN (!):
The bouncer — Jerry Link — tells TMZ, he maced Worthington when the actor went belligerent outside the bar … and Worthington screamed, “I’m a DEA agent! You f**ked up now!”
For what it’s worth, the charge against Worthington was dropped.
Worthington stars opposite Schwarzenegger, Josh Holloway, Terrence Howard, Joe Mangianello, and more in the David Ayer-directed Ten, about a team of DEA agents whose members are slowly offed after stealing millions from a cartel house.

The 10 years that we are told at the beginning of Wrath of the Titans have passed since Perseus (Sam Worthington) defeated the Kraken may not seem like long enough, especially when you consider that it’s only been two since the Clash of the Titans remake was released, Kraken-like, on an unsuspecting populace. It was sufficient time, anyway, for Worthington to grow out his hair, so that in Wrath of the Titans he sports a soft cap of curls to go with his peaceful life among the humans. He’s lost a wife but gained a son and another pretext to propel a franchise whose fate was sealed once Avatar’s numbers started rolling in. That it was going to happen was certain; how it happened was of secondary concern.
Greek mythology feels particularly ill-used as a framework for narrative standards this low. Wrath (and who knows the source of the titular rage, they’re just mad, OK?) uses some of the names we now know third- or fourth-hand (I’m not sure where I’d be without The Mighty Hercules, which feels like an AP Classics course by comparison) and adds a few faintly recognizable accoutrements — Zeus’s thunderbolt, Pegasus — in what plays out as a generic “save the world” plot. Demigod Perseus is being called back to the realm of the gods by his father, Zeus (Liam Neeson) to help stem the weakening of his powers caused by waning human devotion. Perseus’s jealous brother Ares (Édgar Ramírez, from Carlos) had turned to the dark side and Hades (Ralph Fiennes) is still rotting in hell, along with his (and Zeus’s) father, Kronos, who is threatening to unleash his wrath on the world, presumably because his “voice” is indistinguishable from that of an 8-year old burping the alphabet. I’d be mad too.…

Forget John Carter’s controversial budget woes and terrible tracking for a minute; Wrath of the Titans has been threatening to be the first big biff of 2012 since it was announced, thanks largely to its poorly received predecessor, Clash of the Titans. The sequel’s initial Marilyn Manson-themed trailer didn’t help, either, but Warner Bros. have thankfully tightened things (and stopped lingering on Sam Worthington’s Kenny Powers ‘do) for a new trailer that actually promises some fantastic CG creature work. Bring on the lava monster thingy!
Wrath of the Titans picks up ten years after the events of Clash, with Perseus (Worthington) tapped once again by Zeus to save the world, this time from the nefarious Titans and Olympian plotters we glimpsed in Immortals. (Thanks for that primer, Tarsem!) This time around Rosamund Pike is along for the ride as the warrior queen Andromeda, as well as folks like Toby Kebbell and Bill Nighy.
This trailer tightens things up a bit, explaining the set up (Liam Neeson’s Zeus is under attack!) and packing a ton of CG creature looks into the span of a minute and a half. Honestly, that’s shaping up to be the draw of this Jonathan Liebesman-helmed sequel. All I want to see is some believable lava smoke monster giant action. The movies never get those guys quite right.
Wrath of the Titans will debut March 30.

Someone’s been dumping bodies in the marsh lands outside of small town Texas City, and cops Sam Worthington, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Jessica Chastain are determined to catch the killer. In her sophomore directorial effort, Ami Canaan Mann (daughter of Michael, who produced) helms Texas Killing Fields, a cop thriller based on grisly true events. After the jump, watch Worthingon and Chloe Moretz in Movieline’s exclusive look at a scene from the October 14 release.
The synopsis:
Inspired by true events, this tense and haunting thriller follows a local homicide detective (Sam Worthington) in a small Texan town and his partner, a transplanted cop from New York City (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as they track a sadistic serial killer dumping his victims’ mutilated bodies in a nearby marsh locals call “The Killing Fields”.
The killer changes the game and begins hunting the detectives, teasing them with possible clues at the crime scenes while always remaining one step ahead. When a familiar local girl, Anne (Chloe Grace Moretz) goes missing the detectives find themselves in a race against time to find the killer and save her life.
Directed by Ami Canaan Mann & Produced by Michael Mann, Texas Killing Fields also stars Jessica Chastain (Tree of Life, The Help), Jason Clarke (Public Enemies, FOX’s “Chicago Code”) and Stephen Graham (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”).
Texas Killing Fields is in theaters October 14.

Remember the good old days when we hunted Nazi war criminals and looked like Sam Worthington? The Debt laments those times too. Three youngsters (Jessica Chastain, Martin Csokas and Worthington) track down a WWII baddie in the 1960s, and thirty years later their older selves (Helen Mirren, Tom Wilkinson, Ciarán Hinds) realize the job isn’t over. This is an updated version of a trailer we saw last July (the movie was lost in the Miramax sale), but hey! New graphics and more Mirren antics!
Those inter-titles are so bodacious and sinister. Like maybe The Debt is a technological thriller series on AMC. Breaking Bergen Belsen!
As such, Helen Mirren still seems harried, Sam Worthington still seems boring, and Jessica Chastain is fiercer than most people crossing into Soviet-controlled East Berlin. It’s actually bizarre to make a glossy thriller about capturing the very real Josef Mengele, the “surgeon of Birkenau,” but since he died in the late ’70s, I assume the modern-day component of The Debt is less historical. I’d have a better guess except the trailer just insists the older cast will be “dealing with” what they’ve done. There’s an added dimension of real-life parallelism here after Mirren’s terrible episode of SNL; I’m still “dealing with it,” personally.
Verdict: Stylish, but hollow.
